Are you a leader, an expert, someone who has its name mentioned on blogs, newspapers, traveled for your art, done concerts and shows internationally, perform at the highest level in your discipline – and can prove it? If yes, then the Self-Employed immigration program for entrepreneurs may be for you.


Canada wants to attract self-employed artists who have a successful record of accomplishments in their fields, whose expertise and know how will significantly benefit Canadians.

  • Musicians.
  • Singers.
  • Dancers.
  • Choreographers.
  • Designers.
  • Music teachers.
  • Illustrators.
  • Film makers.
  • Theater or music directors/impresarios.

You must have:

  • 2 years of self-employed experience during the past 5 years – or
  • 2 years participating at a world-class level in cultural activities – or
  • 1 year of self-employment + 1 year of working at a cultural world-class level.
  • Be able to establish a business that will, at a minimum, create an employment opportunity for yourself and that will make a significant contribution to cultural activities in Canada.

Financials

You must show that you have been able to support yourself and your family thanks to your talent, and would be able to continue to do so in Canada.


Although there is no minimum net worth for self-employed persons, you still must show that you have enough money to support yourself and your family for at least 1 year after coming to Canada. The capital required depends on the type of work you want to do in Canada.


You will get:

  • Permanent Residence in 2 years. You will enter Canada as a Permanent Resident of Canada.
  • You may be eligible to apply for your Canadian passport after 3 years.
